HealthPLUSAlabama and DentalPLUSAlabama has purchased individual health and dental insurance plans for its clients. It does not include coverage for any other family members. As with many insurance plans, the insurance plans covers most, but not all, of your health and dental care costs. The covered person (you) is responsible for paying certain copays and deductible amounts associated with your visit. HealthPLUSAlabama and DentalPLUSAlabama, however, will pay some of the most common of these on your behalf. But you are responsible for making payments not covered by HealthPLUSAlabama and/or DentalPLUSAlabama.

  • If you are an existing client, you should have received a packet from United Way of Central Alabama, Inc. containing more information about the insurance plans and your insurance cards. In addition, you should have received an insurance card(s) directly from the insurer.

  • When you visit a doctor office, dentist office or pharmacy, present both your insurance card and your HealthPLUS/ DentalPLUS Alabama card. Your HealthPLUS/DentalPLUS Alabama card instructs the office or pharmacy to bill the HealthPLUS/DentalPLUS Alabama program for certain copays instead of you. It is important that you present the card before services are rendered so that if providers are not familiar with the program, they may call us or check this website.

  • If you have already paid a copay or other payment with your own funds, then HealthPLUS/DentalPLUS Alabama may not reimburse you under any circumstances. This is due to a federal requirement that allows the program to provide assistance in paying for insurance and medical and/or dental services but prohibits cash from being transferred to you personally.
